In general, if you can pick very obscure topics, that’s going to really help with the engagement. But overall, most kids had no idea what the Iditarod was. Now once I started talking more about it, they had a little bit of background based on maybe some movies that they had seen. But I was inspired by the Iditarod, and I’m so glad I picked this topic for this lesson because where I’m at in Colorado, most kids actually don’t know what the Iditarod is. I was inspired by the Iditarod, and I’m not quite sure why I got inspired by it. As I said, don’t get too caught up in the type of robot that I used. The first robot idea for wintertime is Sphero sleds. I just wanted to give you an idea for winter theme robotics lessons that you can use Well, of course, during the wintertime, and help spark creativity with all of these fun, different themes. They’re way more involved than what I’m really talking about. So just keep that in mind when you’re hearing about these lessons. So it was one of many activities that we did throughout the week. You could, of course, modify it to be a one-day challenge, but we really went through all the stages of the Engineering Design Process for each of these lessons, besides the Kindergarten and the first one that I will be sharing at the end, the one for Kindergarten and first grade was for a STEM station. For second through fifth grade, I went through the whole Engineering Design Process throughout the week, so this wasn’t a one-day challenge. Also, I’m just sharing with you a snapshot of how I taught these lessons. So it can definitely work with whatever robots you have. For example, if I’m talking about the Sphero robot for a specific lesson, you don’t necessarily have to use it. You can definitely mix in whatever robots you have on hand. However, don’t be so stuck on the robots that I’m going to be talking about for each of these lessons. You can join the waitlist at /workshopwaitlist.įor all of the lessons that I’m going to be talking about in this episode, I use various specific robots and a variety of robots in my classroom. So you can join the waitlist here, and you’ll be the first to know when they are open. Again, I don’t want you to want to miss out on that. So it will be a great time to learn and connect with other STEM teachers about various topics. I definitely don’t want you to miss out on all the fun. So in 2023, I’m going to be hosting live virtual workshops. ![]() These are lessons that I have taught my students that they have absolutely loved, and I know that yours will too.īefore we jump on in not a whole lot of announcements today, but I have one very exciting one. ![]() What are some fun robot ideas for wintertime? In this episode, I will be sharing with you five winter-themed robot lessons that you can teach in your classroom.

Popular API platforms include Google Apigee, Segment, and Zapier. In addition, Bubble’s API and the API connector will enable you to open up third-party integrations. However, if you're a startup with little or zero software development resources, or you’re seeking a tech stack accessible to virtually anyone, you should consider the no-code option. The ability to customize depends on the capabilities of the no-code tools being used. On the other hand, organizations cede complete ownership of their source code for that convenience. Every member of your organization can build custom solutions. Users don’t require years of specialized training to design functional apps with no-code builders. Developing with no-code is agile, easy, and often much faster and less expensive than traditional development. Gartner forecasts that by 2025, 70% of new app development will use no-code or low-code technologies. While custom development has advantages, its cost and complexity can be prohibitive. Projects with complex logic or that plan to scale in the long term or a unique user interface typically require traditional development. Custom-designed applications offer complete functionality and complete ownership, but their development is often slow and expensive. Skilled coders use these stacks to build applications from the ground up. Old Option: Traditional Tech StacksĬustom software development often requires traditional text stacks. If your business is a startup, knowing which type of stack best suits your business needs is critical. ![]() The tech stack affects the amount of time and resources required for app development. These collections of tools are also known as data ecosystems, technology infrastructures, or text solutions stacks. How to Choose the Right Tech Stackīecause the first step of the project lifecycle is crucial, a team needs the right combination of tech stack solutions to be effective. Tech stacks, sometimes known as data ecosystems, technology infrastructures, or tech solutions stacks, define the types of apps you can build and how customizable they are. But exactly what is a tech stack? A tech stack is the collection of tools, services, and technologies developers use in a project, including coding languages and frameworks. Designing a tech stack is a critical first step in the lifecycle of a project. ![]() The game does have some flaws, though, most of which can be attributed to its “early access” status. You’ll find yourself screaming as your friend attempts to throw you from a ferris wheel. There aren’t many games where you can dress like a giant chicken, throw a luchador off of a billboard, and still claim you are “family friendly.” The graphics are very simple and there is no blood, but the game has a strange way of making players attached to their avatar. Capable of supporting anywhere from two to eight players, the game devolves into a brutal and hilarious battle royal. There are single player options to play against waves of computer-controlled opponents, but the biggest appeal of this game is the multiplayer. Other actions range from headbutting your opponents into unconsciousness or falling completely limp to the ground as a dodge. It is wacky, frustrating, and hilarious at the same time. ![]() You have to continually hold down a button to grip someone, press another button to tense that arm, and time your release of the buttons to throw your opponents. The independent limbs of your character are controlled by multiple buttons. The control scheme is purposely set up to be obtuse. The trick is that it sounds a lot easier than it is. Stages range anywhere from factory warehouses, to skyscrapers, and even on top of speeding semi-trucks. You control a colorful figure in a goofy costume in a mission to simply wrestle any and all opponents off of the stage. Frankly, after a long day of classes, I’d like to sit down and just have a laugh while playing a dumb game. It is getting hard to find a game that people don’t take too far, getting deadly serious with tactics and competition. As time and technology march forward, sometimes it feels like we are leaving behind the beloved age of the silly multiplayer party games. Unfortunately, much like jump squats, tuck jumps place a far greater amount of stress and impact on the joints of the lower body, increasing the risk of injury and soreness as the connective and osseous tissues of the body are damaged over time. If you’re more advanced, add a tuck jump at the top. During squat jumps, you are forced to balance your body. Find Tuck Jump stock images in HD and millions of other royalty-free stock photos. When programming the tuck jump as a potential box jump alternative, the exerciser will find that it may act as a perfect one to one substitute in terms of volume and cadence, requiring no further alteration to the exerciser’s training program and allowing them to simply replace one movement with the other. Squat Jumps target quads, hamstrings, glutes and calves while also toning the ab and back muscles. Squat jump, tuck jump pattern, line tuck jump and split jump are additional exercises. Tuck jumps is a at-home work out exercise that targets hamstrings and quadriceps and also involves abs and calves and glutes & hip flexors. In terms of muscle group activation, tuck jumps possess the same activation pattern as the box jump, though with somewhat greater hamstring and glute muscle recruitment as the exerciser utilizes knee flexion as they jump – thereby resulting in somewhat more intense posterior chain training stimulus. Circuit training is one such training method used in a strength. Tuck jumps activate muscle groups across your entire body, including your glutes, hamstrings, hip flexors, quadriceps, obliques, calves, and lower back muscles. ![]() Make Your iPhone Camera Open to Your Last Used Shooting Settings So You're Always Readyīlock Someone from Using Their Camera During Zoom Video Calls Use This Zoom Hack to Make Everyone Think You're Still in the Video Meeting When You're Not This Secret FaceTime Trick Lets You Zoom with Your iPhone's Camera Why Apple's New Dual-Lens Camera on the iPhone 7 Plus Is AwesomeĪctivate Your iPhone's Hidden Magnifying Glass for Extreme Zoomingġ0 Photography Tips for Mastering Your Camera Phone This gesture does not work in Portrait, Pano, or Time-Lapse modes. The Dolly Zoom is only effective (and curiously invisible) when it visually amplifies the internal emotional mindset of a character's critical story moment. You won't hear any arguments from me against the claim that this shot has been used far too often in contemporary cinema, usually when the character realizes something drastic is happening (or has happened) or just before he begins a chase after something or someone. ![]() ![]() The film became a punk cinema classic of New York scum and set a standard in which Harvey Keitel demanded to be filmed fully nude in all subsequent roles. If you have nothing else to do one night, log onto Netflix and watch it. Uncut Gems understands what it is and, with the help of Sandler and co., gets the darn basics right. The hallmark of a good film is one that understands what it is and gets the darn basics right. The movie feels like a rush because Howard’s life is a rush and Howard is a rush. Josh and Benny Safdie are immersing the audience into Howard’s mind a frenetic collection of nerves and thoughts and emotions all contained in the skull of one degenerate Jewish gambler looking to score that one big play that will make it all worthwhile. When combined with the 90s style electronic score this can feel like it is warping time itself, while important dialogue is occurring. The movie is a cacophony of noise at points with background sounds of a busy Manhattan street, seemingly inflated in post-production. Understandably, the Netflix film has come under criticism for its disorientating use of light, movement, and sound especially. It is character driven rather than script driven. The twists, trials and tribulations Howard must overcome to pay his debts make for captivating viewing – all without the narrative reaching for fantastical plot deviations or unexplained phenomena to move the story. Uncut Gems proves that a relatively simple, original, storyline that is thought through and combined with a vision can be a recipe for success. It’s an unfortunate rarity in film and television these days to watch a movie that is not an adaptation, reboot or sequel. Performances from Sandler, Fox and even Garnett show that good acting, combined with a character driven script can payoff massively for film studios. The rest is composed of actors such as Julia Fox, a newcomer to mainstream film who plays her namesake – an employee of Howard’s and his love interest. ![]() These names, along with Sandler’s, make up the bulk of known talent in the film. The one exception may be Idina Menzel of Frozen fame, who plays Howard’s estranged wife Dinah. While there are some notable cameos – namely NBA and Boston Celtics legend Kevin Garnett (who, unlike most sport stars in film, provides an energetic and emotive performance) and The Weeknd – most of the names are virtual newcomers. Sandler is supported by a relatively obscure cast. At the same time, Howie must run his business and balancing his complicated family life. Set in 2012, the movie follows Howie as he attempts to repay Arno, without running into his ‘debt collectors’ led by the irritable and violent Phil (Keith Williams Richards). The man is masterful, and brilliantly encapsulates the manic life of Howie Ratner – a New York City jeweller with a severe gambling addiction and mammoth debt owed to his brother-in-law Arno, Eric Bogosian. ![]() StuffIt Expander a simple utility to expand archives, was a standard third party add-on for all Macs up until Mac OS X 10.4, Tiger. StuffIt quickly became the de facto standard for compressing and archiving files in Mac OS, especially in 1990s when we had relatively limited and expensive disk storage. Recall that Raymond Lau developed StuffIt in 1987 and Aladdin Software was formed to market it. My next step was to figure out the chronology of the company, Aladdin, and the technology. And then, of course, my next thought was, mindful of the Snow Leopard upgrade I just did on some fairly new Macs, "What if a day comes, because of technical developments, that I can no longer open those archives? Will the current version of StuffIt Expander work all the way back to the beginning of StuffIt technology? What tools might I need to keep current? I decided to find out. In addition to expanding the contents of a zip archive from a PC computer, StuffIt Expander will also automatically translate the file extension of a Windows file into a Macintosh type and creator code. If you are exchanging files with a Windows user, StuffIt Expander can help to make the files you receive ready for use on your Macintosh. Tip: If you have questions about the files resulting from expansion from a StuffIt archive the best advice we can offer is that you contact the person who posted or sent you the files to find out what program is needed to open them. While StuffIt Expander can help you to open the compressed, archived, or encoded files you download from the Internet you will still need an application installed on your Macintosh to view, edit, or otherwise work with the files you have expanded. In order to protect your privacy StuffIt uses very secure encryption algorithms which have no ÒbackdoorÓ. If you do not have the correct password you will not be able to access the files stored in an encrypted archive. StuffIt Expander will prompt you to provide the password before the files are expanded. On occasions you may receive archives that have been encrypted with a password. If it cannot be expanded, StuffIt Expander may, in some cases, present a dialog offering more information about what program might be needed to open the file. Even if the file you want to expand doesn't have a StuffIt icon, drag and drop it onto StuffIt Expander to see if it can be expanded. Note: Even if the Mac OS does not recognize that a file can be expanded by StuffIt Expander, you may still be able to expand it. You can expand more than one file by dragging multiple items onto StuffIt Expander, and you can also expand larger groups of files by placing them in a folder and dragging the whole folder onto StuffIt Expander. Double-clicking the file you want to expand will not work in many cases. ![]() This drag and drop method is highly recommended. You can also expand files with StuffIt Expander by dragging files into the StuffIt Expander application window. StuffIt Expander is easy to use!
